Warburg School Receives GreenUP Grant from FortisAlberta

Students and Staff receive the GreenUP banner and cheque for $2500. from FortisAlberta representative, Brandi Diehl.

FortisAlberta’s GreenUp grant program is designed to help create or enhance an environmental program at Elementary and Junior High schools in Fortis’ service area.  The grant offers FortisAlberta the opportunity to support schools to develop and improve environmentally-friendly programs.  FortisAlberta looks for ways to give back to the communities where its customers and employees live and work. Ten schools throughout Alberta were chosen to receive the grant.  Selection was based on applications put forward by the schools.

At Warburg School, we will use this grant to purchase trees and shrubs and encourage students to take charge in the beautification of the school.  Mr. Arnold’s option class has already began planting the greenery in the cement planters in the office foyer and high school cafeteria, and this grant will help them to further their greenery beautification project. Thank you FortisAlberta!

The following schools were also awarded the GreenUp grant of $2500.   Eleanor Hall School, Clyde, Ecole Joe Clark School, High River, Matthew Halton School, Pincher Creek, A.H. Dakin School, Edson, Wainwright Elementary School, Centennial School, Wetaskiwin, Banded Peak School, Bentley School and Rimbey Elementary School.
