  • When Grief or Loss Hits Close to Home

Posted on    Posted in Parent Information

Our school community mourns the loss of grade 12 student, Emma Gillis.  Emma was a caring and compassionate young woman who loved to dance and was a loyal friend to her classmates and those around her. We extend our most heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.  A memorial was held for Emma at Warburg School on Saturday, February 16th.

A letter to W.S. families from Mrs. Maltais and Mrs. Fritz was sent to every family to inform that every effort is being made to handle this tragic situation with honesty, compassion and understanding. Our Crisis Response Team, along with members of our school division and support staff from our community affiliates, have made themselves available to our school to assist students, staff and family to provide support and to encourage emotional health and well-being.  We encourage families to access the article When grief/loss hits close to home and if you have any concerns or your child requires further assistance to deal with this tragedy,  please contact our school.
